red lips, pink sweater

Here’s my inspiration, a beautiful (but pricey) Marc Jacobs sweater.

Like I always say, you don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve a certain look, so here’s my attempt!  The sweater is from ZARA, it was 60 bones as opposed to the MJ sweater for 260 bones.  Since the sweater is pretty bulky, and because I have a petite frame, its easy for pieces to overwhelm my figure, so I added balance with a pair of very simple skinnies, and taupe boots.  The taupe boots are so old, I think I got them about 5 years ago, and I still wear them A LOT.  The necklace adds a bit of glamour, along with the red lips!  The necklace was purchased a while ago at Piperlime, around 50 bones.

the autumn air…

I think fall is the most vibrant of the seasons, not just because of the beautiful colors, but because of that warm and cozy feeling…you feel alive.  Starbucks brings back the specialty lattes, Chapters is full of hopeful readers, and it’s the season of boots, outerwear, and cashmere.  That crispness in the air is remedied by an oversized sweater, or a warm infinity scarf, and who doesn’t love the sound of fallen leaves crunching underneath your footsteps.   Also, fall is my favorite “hunting” season, you cannot deny it – fall fashion takes the cake.

I couldn’t possibly wear those black strappy pumps walking around in gastown, so a wardrobe change was needed.  Okay, so many people ask me how to take a fancy ensemble and turn it into something you can wear casually.  One tip, please don’t be the kind of girl who wears heels everywhere – I know you think you look 5 lbs thinner when you’re 4 inches taller, but it looks really silly when you are climbing Grouse mountain in your harajuku platforms.  You can still look really cute, and be very comfy in a pair of flats – mine are by Melissa, and are completely cruelty free for all you vegan types.  You’ll notice I’ve also added a scarf, which is needed in the chilly Vancouver weather.  Love this scarf, and if you do then head to H&M right now and get it!  It was less than 20 bones and totally reminds me of the Marc Jacobs Babylon wrap sweater that I keep trying to convince Shane to buy me as an investment piece.  Shane says that as soon as I come up with a way for a sweater to literally start putting dollars in my back account, he’ll get it for me….so I guess I have my work cut out for me.  Blazer is by SINE, found at Anthropologie.  You can’t see because my hair is covering my ears but I changed my earrings, kept the watch, and instead of that vintage duffel, I opted for a vintage messenger, so my hands can be free to talk on the phone and hold the latte that was warming my cold hands.  Done and done, the basics of the outfit are there, the green + grey, mixed with flowy and structure, and even better I don’t look weird walking next to Shane who is wearing his new Penfield raincoat :)
