Roaring 20′s

Recently I have been obsessed with watching Downton Abby.  I just cannot get over how gorgeous the styling of the 20′s is.  If I could wear beaded gowns, red velvet shrugs, and head pieces on the daily…without getting weird looks, I would do it!  Instead here are some Downton Abby inspired pieces that will work in 2013.

Kelly

How much do you love Kelly’s fresh look?  This stylish gal is a pro at layering.  The tunic is a gorgeous number I own too, by Free People and I love that you can see a peak of the peach tank underneath, both items were purchased from Plenty.  The scarf adds some neutral and a little bright to add some depth and interest, the wrap around belt was a sale purchase from Club Monaco!  Matched with the sweet little Miz Mooz clogs, and the boho Free People woven handbag, this look is perfectly balanced.  The bracelets are a mixture of American Eagle finds, Free People, and most of them are actually handmade by Kelly and myself, using precious stones.  These will be up for purchase on my site soon since we literally get stopped on the street by gals who want a set!  The rose gold watch is from Endless, and the rad jeans were under $50 by Joe Fresh!  Love this look!  See detailed item list and website links below.

Tunic: Free People

Tank: Plenty

Jeans: Joe Fresh

Clogs: Miz Mooz purchased from Endless

Bag: Free People

Belt: Club Monaco

some of my favorite things

Right now these are a few of my favorite things.  My friend Leanne got me started on this oil based Bobbi Brown, I love it.  It’s nice and light for summer.  The Pretty Polaroid notes are super cute, use them to send little love notes to friends and family.  The beautiful necklace is from Tiny Devotions, the turquoise stone gives strength and protection from harm.  The floral robe is from Anthropologie, cotton for comfort and the pattern is bright and feminine.  Lastly I love Royal Apothic’s poppy roll on scent.  Great for throwing in your purse, and the scent is soft for summer.

How to spend your $$

It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all these trends, floral denim, coloured skinnies, crochet tops, everything in mint green or soft peach!  So, before you feel like you have a million things to get to update your wardrobe, follow these examples.  This is exactly how I shop, and this is how you can pull off a polished look without breaking the bank.

1.  Whatever is trendy this year should not cost you more than $100, if that.  If you’re into the coloured denim go buy a pair from Plenty, Zara, or even American Eagle for less than $80.  You really don’t need to buy a pair of coloured premium denim that will run you upwards of $200, you’ll be sick of the colour by next year, trust me.  Spend money on a good proper fitting pair of light blue or medium rinsed jeans for the summer, or a pair of slightly oversized white jeans, these ones will be classic pieces in your summer wardrobe.

2.  Take it a bit easy on the mint green and peach this year, buy one or two pieces in these shades, and that’s enough K?

3.  Spend money on a good purse, I repeat this all the time – and pay attention to the detail and the craftsmanship, spending $400 on a fluorescent yellow Rebecca Minkoff might not be in your best interest (although it is pretty), instead spend the money on a black or tan bag which will literally last you season after season.

4.  You need a cute and fit jacket for spring and summer, so it is not a good idea to get a cheapo polyester one, you’ll sweat your butt off and pretty soon your new bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy will smell a little less than floral.  After the demise of our planet, the only things to stay will be cockroaches and polyester…ick!  Not saying I’m not guilty of the odd P purchase, I’m just sayin’ for the things you wear more than twice a week (like a good everyday blazer) a natural fiber is smarter!

The classic trench is from Banana Republic, for $140 and it’s 100% cotton.  The wedges are the best colour to buy if you’re budget is tight this year, they go with almost anything, will look adorable with skinny jeans, wide leg pants, or skirts you name it, they are by Dolce Vita for about $90.  Don’t skimp when it comes to a good pair of everyday jeans, I like these ones by Genetic Denim, around $200 but you will wear them this year, and next!  Having a cute tush is priceless!  Lastly, if you’re a career gal you need an everyday chic bag – if you’re not into black then buy grey or tan – they will work for any season and will not go out of style.  This one is Foley + Corinna for $370.  Now that you have your everyday staples, you can jazz up your wardrobe with inexpensive bright floral tops, a few pretty scarves and some bright accessories – you won’t have to spend a lot on these fillers, hit up H&M and that’ll do ya!  Happy Hunting for your staples this year, let me know if you need any help!

shellac, part 2

So remember how I got a shellac manicure before traveling to Europe?  Well, I just want to report back and share my thoughts on shellac.  The pic on the left is the day I got the manicure, and the pic on the right was taken 10 days later.  As you can see the manicure lasted a while, but you can obviously see the new nail growth.  After about two weeks I could start to see cracks in the actual lacquer, but overall I felt like the shellac is worth it.  Here’s the thing, if you’re like my sis you’ll have a strong urge to peel the shellac right off, and to you I say “STOP THAT” it harms your nails!  If you get them taken off at the salon, it’s obviously much better and not harmful to your little delicate nail beds.  I also loved that my nails underneath were nice and long, I would definitely recommend the shellac manicure.  In fact, I’m going to get another set on Monday.  Happy hunting for a good nail salon, I have one in my neighbourhood that is awesome, decent prices, and it’s across the street from one of Vancouver’s best coffee shops, perfect way to spend a monday morning I’d say!

a girl’s guide to looking fab while standing in the pouring rain, begging the tow truck driver not to tow her car…

Okay everyone, we all know of the popular proverb “when it rains, it pours” and if I’m going to be honest with all of you lovely readers, mother nature has been raining on my parade for a few months now.  Since I have already thrown myself a pity party, watched “you’ve got mail” and countless “gilmore girls” reruns it’s time to take that proverbial bull by the horns and take action, and today was a good reminder that if and when it rains and pours, just be prepared and have an umbrella, or a cute hooded anorak.

Let me start this post with a true story, it begins in Chapters where I was helplessy wandering in the self-help aisle.  On my hunt for an epiphany in the middle of Chapters, alternating between sips of my americano misto and the delicious lemon poppyseed loaf I treated myself to, I happened to run into a friend of mine, the time was 2:56 pm.  After about ten minutes of chatting I heard my car alarm, realizing that I parked at a meter I knew immediately why my car alarm was going off -  my car was about to be towed, my parking meter expired at 2:57pm.  I put down the scented candle, stuffed animals for my nieces, and valentine’s day card, and ran down the escalator and outside in the pouring rain with my worried friend behind me.  My faithful dog, Alvin, who was patiently waiting for me to hurry up and reach enlightenment in my local bookstore, was looking at us through the window tail wagging, and eyes questioning.  I ran up to the tow truck guy and said:

“Please don’t tow my car, I will cry right now, I will cry my eyes out!”

He looked a little surprised with what I said, only because (to be frank) I was sick and tired of the rain (literally and figuratively) I need a little sunshine these days.  I begged, I stomped my black sequins Toms on the pavement, and said again – I will buy you a coffee please put down my car”  With the help of my friend and a passerby who said “Bro, you can’t take her dog bro!” and after stepping back and realizing what kind of embarrassing scene I was creating, especially after the perfect comedic timing of Alvin’s tail wagging and the car alarm going off, all we could do was laugh – laugh until my eyes filled with tears, laugh LOUD the kind that comes from the pit of your stomach, laugh because of the irony of me (a grown woman) threatening to ball my eyes out if my car got towed and minutes earlier perusing the self-help aisle of Chapters, and having everyone on the street watch, yes these are problems of the privileged I know.  In the grande scheme of things no problem at all right?  Well, I’m just glad I looked cute when I stomped my foot, pouted, and wined (I got my way, thankfully).  Thanks tow truck man ;)   So ladies, when it rains (figuratively and literally) – here’s the outfit I think you should wear!!!!!!!!

1.  dot umbrella $29 | urban outfitters 2.  marc jacobs heart charm necklace $58 | piperlime  3.  high-low sweater $50 | anthropologie  4.  navy anorak $196 | abercrombie  5.  tulle lace skirt $39 | piperlime  6.  striped navy toms classics $60 | toms

perfect pairs

Bright colours, basket weave, and espadrilles, oh spring how I love thee (maybe not as much as fall, but after a long rainy winter these shoes and bags are a good enough substitute for the sun…for now).  My must have from this list you ask?  Definitely the bright deep-sea blue Seychelles t-strap wedges!  I love them, and how cute would they be with a little sun dress or a pair of cuffed light denim?  So cute!  1.dolce vita espadrille $79 | piperlime  2. vanessa bruno handbag $153 | shopbop  3. seychelles t-strap wedges $110 | anthropologie  4.  asos handbag $64 | asos  5. vegan bag $115 | matt & nat  6. toe cap wedges $89 | modcloth

floral jeans? yes, please!

Bold prints have become such a norm these days, even the most basic person owns at least one blouse with loud colours or geometric patterns.  I love these jeans, and I love that the pattern is on the bottom, instead of the blouse.  With such a bold feminine print, it’s important to balance the outfit with some masculine pieces.  The pinstripe shirt, and the grandpa cardi (both in neutral colours) help do this. I love the  La Mer watch, I own one in a tan and brown mix, but navy is the new black baby so this piece is a must.  Keep the rest of your accessories simple, wear studs for earrings, nothing that dangles, skip the scarf today, and layer with a cropped jean jacket.  How cute are you?

1. caramel grandpa cardi $60, modcloth  2. tie-front button-down $78, anthropologie  3. La Mer studded watch $122, shopbop   4. citizens of humanity floral jeans $200, shopbop  5. Vince Camuto shoulder bag $278, piper lime  6. Michael Kors wedge sandal $150, piperlime

a crisp january day

I love cold mornings when you can see your breath in the air and the weather is cold enough to wear a cozy sweater, but warm enough to not have to cover it up with a parka!  Moving from a snowy city to a rainy one has it’s ups and downs for sure, but as I said to a coworker today: when it’s not raining – Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and I love that in January a jean jacket over a pretty sweater is just warm enough.  A cozy sweater doesn’t have to be worn casually, in fact I always love pairing casual with dressy, it’s a good way to create balance in your outfit.  The beautiful open-closure sweater I’m wearing below is from Plenty, the dress is an old purchase but if you like my look you can find similar dresses at modcloth.  The cropped denim jacket, necklace, and leather gloves are from Anthropologie last year, the cut out metallic corset belt was a gift (from BCBG last year), handbag is vintage, and my favourite boots are swedish hasbeens from Umeboshi on main!

inspired by the adventures of tintin

Did you watch or read Tintin when you were younger?  We just watched the movie and LOVED it.  The graphics were unreal, and I was inspired by the visual set design and backdrops.  The entire movie, the colours, the attention to detail, and the realistic graphics made me want to recreate Tintin’s outfit into a modern day look for myself, and also had me wanting to create a Tintin ambience in terms of housewares.  His apartment in the movie was cozy, and the look was specific and had a library feeling to it.  Anything can be inspiring, even a childhood icon!  PS I am totally going to wear this outfit, as soon as I collect all the pieces!

my NYE outfit

Have a wonderful, safe, and happy new year everyone!  This is my outfit of choice.  I was inspired by the hand crocheted vintage gloves that used to be my mom’s.  I just love them, and tonight is the perfect excuse to wear them.  The dress was a gift from S, last Christmas, and the coat is from Anthropologie.  Have the best 2012!

everyday glam

I love sparkly things, in small doses of course.  Today I chose to mix old with new, the blazer is a purchase from last winter, and I’m so happy I bought it – gold sequins on a black blazer is quite the glam look.  I think what I like most about the blazer is that it can be worn casually, and I mixed it with my favourite Levi skinnies, herringbone gloves, a subtle turquoise necklace, and my new bag and boots!

How cute are these lace ups?  I got them on sale for $56 from $110, at Little Burgundy!  Get them online, here.

The stacked heel adds extra comfort, I walked around in them all day.

The gorgeous bag from Club Monaco was a recent sale purchase (in stores only), originally retailing for $300, it was marked down to $199 with an additional 40% off, so I got it at about $120, and I love the colour combo.  This bag is the right shade for all seasons.  Sometimes I feel like my dark chocolate browns and mahoganies are only appropriate for fall/winter, but this lovely little catch will be my arm candy all year long.

inspired by SJP, but can’t get the Valentino and Jimmy Choos?

Did you watch Live! With Kelly today?  If you did, you got to see Jonah Hill co-host and SJP as a guest.  I could not get over her dress!  I LOVE, LOVE it, but folks it’s Valentino and though one day I know I will have a Valentino piece in my closet, for now I have to find things that look similar, with a reasonable price.  I loved her look from head to toe, and the tights are amazing, so here it is – I’ve concocted the outfit for you, with pieces that have much better price tags.  I always say that you absolutely do not need to spend a fortune to get the look you want, and everything below can be paired with many other pieces that you have in your closet right now.  The only trendy item would be the tights, and that’s why you’re only spending $15 on them, the dress is classic and can be worn even 5 yrs down the road, so be smart when you buy things and you won’t feel like you’re spending money needlessly.

gifts for guys

Guys can be hard to shop for.  Every year I have to try and top what I bought the year before, and it can be hard.  This year, I got a few questions as to what to get for a guy that’s thoughtful, and dear lord PLEASE don’t give him “coupons”  that is SO cheesy, seriously ladies we’re better than that.

The first thing you need to remember is that guys are simple, ohhhh yes they are, and don’t tell yourself otherwise.

I love the iCade!  I want one myself!  If you got him an iPad last year, then this is a good little gift for this year.

I always find that my bf likes experiences far more than things, so concert tickets, or tickets to a comedy club are a good idea for someone like him, and that’s also a great gift for someone that you’ve just recently started dating, it’s something you can do together, and is not hard on the wallet.

Swiss army knife: your initial thought is “typical” but actually it’s a great gift, my dad loves his and it comes in handy, really!

For the hipsters in your life, the turntable is a good one, as well as the USB amp speaker (both from Urban Outfitters).

The Fossil watch is hot and it’s less than $150, which is a great price for a men’s watch that looks like this – this is for a serious bf ladies, do not spend this amount if you’ve gone on three dates.

The vintage Nintendo – I would want one too (we already have one), but how fun is that?

The bag is Swiss Army too, and I think it’s cool and practical – good for a male friend, brother, etc.

Lastly, we all know the way to a man’s heart – and it involves cooking, chocolate chip cookies are always a good idea, for boyfriends, friends, or family.

Here is the list of products and prices, happy holiday hunting!

1.  iCade from ThinkGeek – $80  |  2. Show tickets – ticketmaster (prices vary)

3. Vintage nintendo from Ebay (prices vary)

4.  USB amp speaker from Urban Outfitters – $24

5.  Swiss army knife from Victorinox Swiss Army - $30

6.  Stainless steel black watch from Fossil – $145

7. Standard backpack from Swiss Army - $50

8.  Portable turntable from Urban Outfitters – $160

9. Chocolate chip cookies! – $10 for ingredients

southwestern style

Here I am with my amazing friend, in this beautiful climate.  The sun is shining, the terrain is gorgeous, and I just had to take photos (haha, well actually Anna was my lovely photographer).  Anna was great, she was sure to tell me what my best angle was, so here’s what we have, some photos of what to wear in the warm Arizona weather in the month of November!  Everything here is sun-soaked and does not make me miss the Vancouver rain.

This strapless floral dress was a Piperlime purchase, by Aryn K on sale for $55.  What a steal!  The bright colours are perfect for the desert.  The necklace was an Anthropologie sale purchase for $10, t-strap wedge shoes are vintage, and the short sleeve blazer is a hand me down.

If you want to know what to pack when traveling to a warm climate, here’s my advice – always pack dresses.  A friend’s mom always says “dresses are a two for one outfit”  you don’t have to worry about a top and a bottom, it’s one piece and is easy to accessorize.  Remember to pack a razor, it’s your best friend when your wardrobe is composed of mostly dresses.   The dress below was another Anthropologie purchase, by Gryphon.  I absolutely love the embroidered pattern and the saturated colours, so southwest.  It was $120, and the light floral open-closure cardi is a Target purchase for $20!!  I love this piece, and the fact that it was a great deal is even better!

Time to switch the shoes!

I love these sandals, again $20 at Target!  I love American prices, don’t worry Canada I shop A LOT  in my homeland too.

yeah, I’m posing, whatever!

no more drab!

We all do it, we keep buying black, grey, taupe, beige, brown…you know what I’m referring to, just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean we put our bright colours away, in fact this is the time to bring them out!  Don’t go and change your whole wardrobe, but buy a few inexpensive accessories to take your drab outfit to the next level.  If I took away the colourful belt, bag and scarf – wouldn’t that be boring?  If you are someone who is afraid of colour, just remember the commitment is a small one with these easy add-ons.  Besides, don’t you want to look a little different than everyone else walking down the street?  In Vancouver all I see is army green, black, brown, and grey.  Add some flavour for crying out loud, and for the LAST time – stop wearing your Uggs when you’re out on the town – do you want to get a second date or not?

1.  Assorted belts | Urban Outfitters   2.  Asena blouse | Anthropologie

3.  Moto skinnies | Topshop  4.  Mulberry snood| Topshop

5.  Blue bin trench | Anthropologie   6.  Leather lady bag | Topshop

7.  Suede bootie | Piperlime

faux fur and a maxi skirt

Trends aren’t completely important to me, my focus is always what is most flattering to my figure, and also what is practical for my lifestyle.  There are moments though, where I am so into the trends out there.  For example the faux fur vest is in again this season, and the maxi skirt (which I sometimes think I’m too petite for, but get the right length and it works!)  The corset belt was more of a last season kind of thing, but again this is where I employ a “dress for your figure” strategy, I prefer something that cinches at the waist, and I always like to add texture, texture, texture!  The only new items I am wearing are the maxi skirt, which was a sale purchase for $40, get it here, and the necklace, which was a purchase from Aldo accessories.  You can get a similar vest from Piperlime, or Urban Outfitters (which is where I got mine last winter).  The long sleeve sweater is literally over 5 yrs old, buy a similar one from Club Monaco.  Lastly the booties are old too, but I think these would work just as well, of not better!  I hope I have inspired you to try some of the trends out there, happy hunting!

Q: can you mix navy and black?

A: YES!  I love navy and black together, I think it looks classy.  Make sure you choose pieces with texture though, so that you don’t get a dull look.  Look at the outfit below as a guideline.

Stretch velvet pants: Gap | Carapace wedges: Anthropologie

Amanda Uprichard blouse: Piperlime | Metal facet bracelet: Topshop

Diane von Furstenberg handbag: Shopbop | Wool trench: Topshop

navajo & tribal print

This season feels like it’s all about navajo and tribal print.  I’m not all over it, but I do think the colours and patterns used are quite fun, plus the colours of the below prints look so well on many different skin tones and hair colours, so you might end up wearing this print more than you think.  Still, I wouldn’t spend a fortune on something navajo, just because we all know it’s a trend.  The coat below is just over 100 bones, so that’s not a bad price at all.  The scarf is more expensive, but patterned scarves aren’t going anywhere, so that’s money well-spent.  The dress is L.AM.B. but I am loving the bright colours used.  (Find the coat, scarf, and dress at Shopbop.)  The shoes, from Piperlime, are fun too – again about 130 bones – so you won’t feel that bad if you wear them for two seasons and then consign them, just make sure you wear them!  I think they’re fun, and are currently sitting in my online shopping bag.

colourful, classy

I love the Sonia Rykiel line.  It’s bright but classic.  The price tag of the skirt might cause you to choke a little, so sit down and stop drinking your coffee.  Yes a $600 skirt is a little much, but I wonder if it can give you some inspiration on how to use bright colours?  I love the gold drops, I am a yellow gold kinda gal, silver washes me out and gives my skin an attractive (sarcasm) greyish sheen, haha but obviously if you like silver that will work too (for you, definitely not for me).  The Foley + Corinna clutch is so sweet, isn’t it?  It’s good quality, and I can see myself using this clutch a lot, but if you don’t think you would use this bright colour as much, either find a knock-off (go to Winners, even) or buy it in a black or neutral – if you do that though, try to funk up the outfit with brighter shoes!  You want to play up the bright stripes in the skirt, not work against them.  Lastly, the blouse is a classic – I’ve used it in a previous post, but its because this piece goes with SO much, its $75 which is a great price and is so versatile.  If this skirt goes on sale, I’m all over it – until that time, a girl can dream…a girl can dream. 1.  OPI Polish in “crisp burgundy” $5.20(online) | 2.  Gold Torrent Drops $48

3.  Foley + Corinna Clutch $288 |4.  Vince Camuto “Merkina” Pump $115

5. Sonia Rykiel Signature Stripe Skirt $620 | 6.  Cream Contrast Shirt $75

play dress up

Come on, live a little.  Mix some patterns, and get out of that matchy-matchy plain jane look every once in a while.  I loved playing dress up as a little girl, and I still do.  Yes, sometimes you might get the odd look, and people thinking “what the hell is she wearing?”  BUT, and its in capital letters because what I’m about to say is important – if you feel good and inspired and YOURSELF, then who cares!  Now, don’t go out and buy the Victorian replica costume that you admired from “Becoming Jane” or “Little Women” (trust me, I almost brought petti coats back), but commit to an idea and polish it off in a stylish way.  Below I’ve mixed some patterns, but you can see in the blouse and the pants that they are both nicely tailored.  The worst thing you can do when wearing something bold is to ignore the fit, a perfect fit is what will be the difference in you wearing something crazy as opposed to you being stylish!  The handbag picks up on the patterns in both the blouse and pant, and the boots are a nice neutral!  Try not to do the bag+belt+shoes need to match (unless you’re wearing black), you don’t need to follow that rule at all (in fact sometimes I think that rule has now become a little old fashioned and too matchy).  Since the outfit is already quite tailored, especially with that satchel in the mix, you need some balance – the grandpa sweater, slightly oversized (but should still fit in the shoulders) is a great addition, the hat and the earrings offer a Parisian and Vintage zest ;) 1.  Lemon Liftoff Blouse – Anthropologie   |   2.  L.A.M.B. Plaid Skinny Pants

3. Knitted Stitch Cardigan   |   4. Alexander Wang Devere Satchel

5. Ambush Ankle Boots   |   6. Contrast Bow Beret

hunting for the perfect one

Ladies, I get it, you search high and low.  You have an image in your head of what it should be like, and sometimes you tell yourself you won’t settle for anything less, and other times you think “this will do” but in your heart you know that when you find the real thing, you should just stop looking.  If you think I’m referring to men, you don’t know me at all!  I’m not talking about wedding dresses either, because I have an odd feeling that when that big day comes I won’t be wearing white, but rather a designer gown that I watched walk down a couture runway ;)  So here’s my find, and its definitely the ONE, because it makes me feel giddy and happy, and like running through a field of daisies haha.  My search for the perfect party dress has come to an abrupt stop at this Tibi Baroque Print Dress.

The colours of this dress, the quality of craftsmanship, and the silhouette are all reasons that I would justify the $500 price tag.  It reminds me of an old New York housewife’s vintage Hermes scarf, and I just love it so much.  How long can I commit?  Well we’ll see about that, because friends there are so many other fish in the sea, and you can go shop Tibi to find your one and only, get there fast before I swoop in and steal your true love from right under your indecisive nose! Happy HUNTING!!! ;)

designer of the week…. all about “MILLY” by Michelle Smith

I am loving pieces by Milly.  The label is the brainchild of designer Michelle Smith, who captures retro feeling prints with feminine silhouettes.  I love anything inspired by past decades (excluding the 80s and 90s for now).  You can buy Milly pieces from Shopbop.com, you can also use it as inspiration when purchasing more affordable items on the market.

…and out on the town (historic gastown that is)

I couldn’t possibly wear those black strappy pumps walking around in gastown, so a wardrobe change was needed.  Okay, so many people ask me how to take a fancy ensemble and turn it into something you can wear casually.  One tip, please don’t be the kind of girl who wears heels everywhere – I know you think you look 5 lbs thinner when you’re 4 inches taller, but it looks really silly when you are climbing Grouse mountain in your harajuku platforms.  You can still look really cute, and be very comfy in a pair of flats – mine are by Melissa, and are completely cruelty free for all you vegan types.  You’ll notice I’ve also added a scarf, which is needed in the chilly Vancouver weather.  Love this scarf, and if you do then head to H&M right now and get it!  It was less than 20 bones and totally reminds me of the Marc Jacobs Babylon wrap sweater that I keep trying to convince Shane to buy me as an investment piece.  Shane says that as soon as I come up with a way for a sweater to literally start putting dollars in my back account, he’ll get it for me….so I guess I have my work cut out for me.  Blazer is by SINE, found at Anthropologie.  You can’t see because my hair is covering my ears but I changed my earrings, kept the watch, and instead of that vintage duffel, I opted for a vintage messenger, so my hands can be free to talk on the phone and hold the latte that was warming my cold hands.  Done and done, the basics of the outfit are there, the green + grey, mixed with flowy and structure, and even better I don’t look weird walking next to Shane who is wearing his new Penfield raincoat :)
